I have now secured a new home for my Dalek … it is going to go on display at Google’s office in Boulder, CO! This is a great outcome for me since it will be on display for visitors to see. Thanks to everyone that reached out with suggestions and offers.
I’m getting my basement finished and will soon no longer have space for my Dalek and I need to find a new home for it. This is a full size Dalek so it is approximately 5’ tall. It is loosely based on the “Genesis of the Dalek” version from the Tom Baker era.
Selling or donating a Dalek is quite a challenge. First of all, I’m in the Denver/Boulder area in Colorado (USA) and although Doctor Who is getting more popular here, most people here don’t even know what this is.
I’m open to suggestions on what to do with this Dalek. I’m not expecting to make money from this and would really like to find a place where it can be on display and bring some joy to people. I have often taken it to Maker Faires and other community events and people enjoy seeing it.
The quality is good but not perfect. I am an amateur at this type of project and this was my first attempt at something this ambitious. It is made out of plywood and cardboard mostly, although the dome is made from fiber glass and there are some 3D printed elements (the appendages).
My first preference would be for this to be on display in a museum or suitably nerdy store. Failing that, my second preference would be to let someone have this in return for a donation to a charity of my choice. I will post more photos here soon.
If you have suggestions, please email me.
